Four hundred graduating college students from Cebu City will each receive P20,000 in financial assistance under the national government’s Bagong Pilipinas Scholarship Program for School Year 2026-2027.

What is the Bagong Pilipinas Scholarship Program?
The Bagong Pilipinas Scholarship Program is a government initiative under the Bawat Barangay Makikinabang Program that provides financial assistance to graduating college students from vulnerable households. The program is designed to help students who are in their final year of college stay in school and complete their degrees despite limited finances.
Each barangay receives P200,000 from the Socio-Civic Projects Fund of the Office of the President, P100,000 of which is specifically allocated for education assistance, while the remaining P100,000 supports other priority projects and immediate needs identified by barangay officials.

How many slots are available?
For Cebu City, five incoming fourth-year students from each of the city’s 80 barangays will be selected, for a total of 400 scholarship slots. The total allocation for Cebu City is P16 million for its 80 barangays.
Other areas covered under the program include:
- Mandaue City – P5.4 million for 27 barangays
- Lapu-Lapu City – P6 million for 30 barangays
- Cebu Province – P213.2 million for 1,066 barangays
Who Can Qualify?
The program targets students who meet the following criteria:
- Must be an incoming fourth-year college student for SY 2026-2027
- Must be from a vulnerable household at risk of dropping out due to financial difficulties
- Must be from a family with no member who has completed tertiary education
Priority is given to students from the following sectors:
- Farming families
- Single-parent households
- LGBTQIA+ community
