The Gokongwei Brothers Foundation (GBF) in partnership with various Gokongwei Group business units is now accepting applications for the GBF STEM College Scholarship Program for qualified students pursuing priority STEM courses.

The scholarship supports outstanding college students in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) programs. Aside from financial assistance, scholars will also receive leadership training, internship opportunities, and potential employment within the Gokongwei Group of Companies after graduation.

GBF STEM College Scholarship Overview

The GBF STEM College Scholarship, formerly known as the GBF–Gokongwei Group STEM Scholarship for Excellence, is designed to support students who:

  • Have strong academic performance
  • Demonstrate leadership potential
  • Participate in community or extracurricular activities
  • Need financial assistance to complete their college education

Selected scholars will also participate in development programs and career opportunities with partner companies under the Gokongwei Group.

Scholarship Benefits

Scholars under the GBF STEM Scholarship Program will receive the following benefits until graduation, subject to scholarship retention requirements:

  • Annual financial grant: ₱80,000 to ₱120,000 depending on the university
  • Funds will be sent directly to the scholar’s bank account
  • Participation in leadership and skills development programs
  • Internship opportunities within Gokongwei Group partner companies
  • Potential employment opportunities in the Gokongwei Group after graduation (subject to company vacancy and employment requirements)

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet the following qualifications to apply:

  • Must be enrolled in a GBF priority STEM course
  • Must have a General Weighted Average of at least 85% or 2.0 or its equivalent
  • For incoming first-year college students, must belong to the top 10% of the senior high school graduating class
  • Must be of good moral character
  • Must show active participation in extracurricular activities
  • Must demonstrate financial need

Documentary Requirements

Applicants must prepare the following documents:

Proof of Academic Standing

For incoming college students:

  • Certified True Copy of Grade 12 Report Card or Form 137
  • Batch ranking certificate from Grade 12 (or Grade 11 if unavailable)

For continuing college students (2nd year and above):

  • Certified True Copy of grades from the past two consecutive semesters

Proof of Household Income

Submit any of the following:

  • 2024 Income Tax Return (ITR)
  • Certificate of Employment with Salary (2025)
  • OFW employment contract with salary
  • Proof of income from ride-hailing services (Grab, Lalamove, etc.)
  • Proof of pension (if applicable)
  • BIR Tax Exemption Certificate (if family is tax-exempt)

Other Documents

  • Proof of Billing (Electricity or Water Bill – dated 2025)
  • Two Recommendation Forms from:
    • Guidance Counselor
    • Adviser / Professor / School Head / Dean

Recommendations from family members or relatives are not allowed.

Once eligibility is confirmed, applicants will receive access to the online application form.

Qualified applicants will then be invited to:

  • Online scholarship examination
  • Panel interview

Application Deadline

The deadline for submitting applications is May 30, 2026.

Applicants are encouraged to prepare their documents early and complete the eligibility check before the deadline.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a minimum GWA required to apply?

Yes. One of the eligibility requirements is that applicants must have a General Weighted Average (GWA) of at least 2.0 or 85% or its equivalent.

Can applicants with failed grades in high school or college still apply?

No. All applicants must have no failed, dropped, or incomplete subjects throughout their high school or college years in order to qualify for the scholarship program.

Can I apply if I already have another scholarship?

Applicants who already have an existing scholarship from another institution or organization may still apply, but their application will be subject to evaluation.
However, applicants without any other scholarships are usually prioritized during the selection process.

Can I apply even if I am not yet enrolled in a university?

Yes. Applicants who are not yet enrolled or do not have a confirmed school may still apply for the scholarship.
Instead of submitting a Certificate of Registration, applicants will be required to submit proof of application to at least one university, based on the documentary requirements provided by the scholarship program.
